Our Mission…

The NCSCB has been founded to support, and work with, the cable splicing and related cable installation industries, professionals, and stakeholders to develop and implement quality credentialing and certification programs for practitioners.

**NOTE: Our recent administration of the Core Knowledge Written Exam was a SUCCESS! Almost 100 people at five sites participated. Everyone has been notified and we are now administering the performance examinations for those that passed the Knowledge exam.

We will accomplish our mission by…

Our written and performance (practical) examinations will measure the knowledge, skills, and abilities of individuals splicing medium voltage shielded electrical power cables. Over the past two years, we have conducted extensive Job Task Analysis studies, appointed leading technical experts to write questions and answers, and conducted a pilot administration of our written exam. Presently, we are finishing the evaluation sheets that will be used by examiners participating in our performance examinations

We will offer one core knowledge examination for all areas of medium voltage cable splicing. After a candidate has successfully passed the core knowledge examination, he will participate in the performance examination. At the present time, we have finished the performance examinations for pre-manufactured splices and terminations. We are now developing a separate examination for hand-applied taping. A PILC performance exam will then be developed. After an individual has passed our examinations, the NCSCB will issue a certification card in the appropriate cable-splicing specialty to him.
